Roberts MP-30
Pros: DAB pause & rewind function. Record & play to SD card facility. Large display. EPG. Good reception. Digital optical & analogue out. Cons: Quite large and heavy.Doesn't have a proper carrying handle.
Review: The Roberts MP30 styling is something may either love or hate. The sound quality is good but nothing special. If I had paid the original price of £199 I might have been a little disappointed. However the sale price of around £69, available on several sites, make it a real bargain. The various record functions are excellent, the SD Card is in addition to the separate DAB Pause & Rewind, which gives up to 15 minutes pause time of live programs. The EPG is mainly BBC stations, but is very useful and makes it possible to set recordings (to the SD card) in advance. A 256MB card is supplied but it will take up to 1GB. I'm not in a good reception area, so was pleased at the number of stations it picked up. My only complaint is the lack of a proper carrying handle, although it does have a grip inset at the back. It's technical specifications are superb and what you would expect of a £200 radio, so if you can get one for under £70 as I did, you will be getting a genuine bargain. |
