Pros: Great pictures and sound quality even in LP,and looks great too. It sets itself up once plugged in. Also it's so quiet when running compared to my faulty returned Wharfdale. I have it hooked up to my freeview box so I can still watch freeview when I'm recording on the dvd/hdd..the hdd is massive and instead of an index pic on recorded items you see the programme playing which I found handy. I love the partial delete (cut out the adverts)menu,it shows you the pictures of what your deleting instead of using guess work! It has a quick 10 secondish start up and ready to go time. You can copy from DVD to HDD but I haven't tried this yet. Plays your photo discs. Good editing options .

Cons: Poor instruction manual-could be clearer. A bit fiddly to sort the leads and stuff out,In EPG/TV guide it's a bit slow to go as each time you move the cursor it changes channel with it..I don't mind this tho. On the interactive (press red button on bbc etc) the clocks always an hour behind but it doesn't affect the player,no idea why. You MUST use 16x speed discs or the the playback after copying from Hdd to dvd is broken/pixelated and freezes, and when you copy from Hdd to Dvd it can take over 35mins to burn a 45 minute programme to dvd disc-I have emailed samsung about this today to see if it's normal and I'm waiting for a reply. Bit tricky to sort out how to record on SP,LP,EP,XP speeds-got there in the end! If you set the timer you must remember to turn the machine off to finish the timer set up or it won't record for you.

Review: I would recommend this..and I have to my friend,because of the great picture quality,and it's disc capacity but Samsung could do with tweaking it a bit for people who aren't technical minded,and they need to sort that manual out and the long disc burn time too-we don't want to need a degree just to work a dvd recorder. Overall it is a sleek machine with tons of disc space and good on board editing gadgets.
